The PeC Review: SLI Offers Superior Search

Saturday, October 31st, 2009

Research indicates that as many as 60 percent of online shoppers use a merchant's search feature to navigate the website. With so many potential customers typing keywords rather than using a site's navigation hierarchy, advanced search features are not just nice to have. They are a competitive advantage as powerful as customer reviews, cross-selling, and email marketing. SLI Systems offers a hosted, learning-based search and navigation solution that can supercharge an online merchant's site search, improving sales and increasing the likelihood that a merchant's shop will show up on search engine results pages (SEPRPs). Add to the solution SLI's reputation for extraordinary customer service and you can understand why I am awarding SLI fi...

Friday, October 30th, 2009
The official newspaper of the Chinese communist party has accused Google of intentionally blocking access to its website by displaying an allegedly unnecessary malware warning telling its visitors that the site might contain malicious software, shortly after the newspaper published an article against Google's practice of scanning books for its online repository sometimes without the author's explicit consent.

There are more than 350 online shopping carts. And each week we feature one, interviewing both the cart's developer and a customer. "Cart of the Week" is not a review or an evaluation, but rather an opportunity to learn about a shopping cart from the people who build it and use it. This week, we'll hear from Joshua Manley, president and co-founder of Cartfly, a hosted ecommerce solution created by Ustrive2 Inc., and headquartered in Phoenix, Arizona. Cartfly is an ecommerce widget that works as a portable, mini-storefront across social networks, blogs and personal websites. Cartfly is currently in use on more than 8,000 websites and personal pages. We'll also hear from a Cartfly customer, Dani Campbell, who uses the widget to sell merc...

Five Must-follow Twitter Lists

Thursday, October 29th, 2009

You might’ve heard the news that Twitter Lists are alive and kicking. If you don’t know what they are, here’s a brief explanation:

Any Twitter user can create a list of people on Twitter, which can be followed with one click. For example, all the people on the Carsonified Team can be found at twitter.com/carsonified/team.

We’re with Robert Scoble on this one: We LOVE this idea (see his great write-up here). It’s going to make Twitter even more valuable because you’ll be able to easily find and follow the type of people you’re interested in.

Here are five Twitter Lists we think you’ll find useful:

  1. Top Web Developers
  2. Most Influential in Tech
  3. Top Web Designers
  4. Tech News
  5. Carsonified’s Recommended

If you know of any really great lists, please add them to the comments!
