Network Solutions & Bad Business
Recently I was helping a student research some domain names. I enjoy the tools available on NetworkSolutions.com but I ran into a Fatal Flaw that has convinced me to never use their service again.
The student I was helping had a few good domains in mind. And the tool I enjoy on the Network solutions site allow you to see not only of the domain is available but misspellings, and good alternatives.
After a few searches we came up with a very good name and I told her to go to GoDaddy and buy it. She raced over and began going through the process only to find out it had been taken.
I jumped back online and used GeekTools.com to do a “Whois” search and see if it truly was taken.
Come to find out, it had been purchased about five minuets earlier by none other than NetworkSolutions.com. I suggested to my student to contact Network Solutions and see what it would take to purchase that domain. (more…)
